Our founding
The Knights of Columbus was founded by Father Michael J McGivney on February 6th, 1882 in Conneticut as a fraternal and charitable organization for Catholic men. The mission was to help Catholic families in a time when there was significant anti-Catholic prejudice and a number of fatherless Catholic families in need.
